Partner Spotlight: Volunteer Knoxville
Posted Thursday, March 5th, 2015 by Verified Volunteers Staff
I am delighted to be back to announce another newly formed partnership. It felt like last year I couldn’t say enough about all the new partnerships we were launching – with such admirable national organizations as Meals On Wheels and Catholic Charities USA and various volunteer centers that serve as the drivers of volunteerism in their communities like Hands On Nashville and Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL). Today, we’re happy to welcome our next addition into the Verified Volunteers family: Volunteer Knoxville.
Volunteer Knoxville, the East Tennessee region’s premier resource center for volunteerism, has sought for some time to make vetting volunteers faster, easier and less costly for nonprofit organizations and their volunteers in East Tennessee. Says Alexandra Brownfield, Executive Director of Volunteer Knoxville: “Together, Volunteer Knoxville and Verified Volunteers are changing the way volunteers connect to quality volunteer opportunities in our region. The background screening technology removes barriers to volunteering and enables volunteers to get involved faster in community service. It also makes it easier and less costly for nonprofit organizations to manage and screen volunteers.”

One Background Check, Multiple Organizations
Through Verified Volunteers’ online platform, volunteers and volunteer managers can now quickly and easily obtain a standardized background check accepted by multiple volunteer organizations, schools, youth sports teams and faith-based groups. Volunteers log in and complete an easy four-step order process to obtain their individualized background check that can be shared with multiple organizations.
Current background screening options can be costly, take a lot of time, and be a general burden for both nonprofits and their volunteers. Since as many as half of all volunteers serve with more than one organization, the cost and time commitment involved with getting screened repeatedly can be an obstacle. But now, with Verified Volunteers’ Fast-Pass, a volunteer can share a single background check with any number of nonprofit organizations. Using this standardized volunteer service credential that satisfies screening requirements for multiple organizations means lower costs and a greater number of qualified, readily available and dedicated volunteers in East Tennessee.
Welcome to the family, Volunteer Knoxville and the East Tennessee region!
